Project Case Study

The Brief

Avails Group builds and sells homes in Sri Lanka. They came to this engagement with something most clients don't have: a look they were already committed to, and no interest in changing it.

The Constraint That Shaped Everything

The usual instinct is to arrive with a point of view and redirect the brand toward it. That would have been the wrong call here. Avails had equity in a specific treatment — a deep red monochrome wash with one object left in full colour — and their audience already recognised it.

So the work was done inside their language rather than around it. That is a different discipline from starting on a blank page: the interesting problem stops being what should this look like and becomes how much can be said without breaking a rule the brand has already set.

Working Within the System

  • Red as the whole field. Photography is pushed to a single-hue wash so it reads as brand before it reads as picture.
  • One object in full colour. The hero — a cart stacked with houses, a model home — is the only thing allowed its real colours, so the eye lands where the message is with no arrow needed.
  • Type that stays out of the way. Clean bold sans, centred, white, no effects. When the image is doing something unusual, the headline's job is to be read, not to compete.
  • A constant logo position. Top right on every asset, so a scrolling feed builds recognition through repetition.
  • Message over mechanic. Within a fixed frame, variety has to come from the idea — a house in a shopping trolley for affordability, for instance — rather than from changing the styling.

The Outcome

A run of posts that a follower reads as unmistakably Avails, produced without asking the brand to become something else. Knowing when not to impose a house style is as much a part of the craft as having one.
